Spanish Sage Cleansing Oil Tutorial

Spanish Sage Cleansing Oil Tutorial

You’ve read all about why Newton + Co’s Spanish Sage Cleansing Oil is a great product that can replace your traditional facial cleanser, but did you know that there’s also a special technique for using it? If you’re new to cleansing oils, follow the steps below for a refreshing aromatherapy ritual that will leave your skin beautifully cleansed and moisturized.

How to Use Cleansing Oil

Step 1: Place 1-2 pumps of cleansing oil into your hands. Massage the cleansing oil into your dry face using your fingertips for 20-30 seconds.

Step 2: Place a washcloth under a faucet and moisten it with hot water (as hot as you can stand). Wring out the excess water and lay the wet cloth onto your face.

Step 3: Lightly pat the cloth against your skin. Wait 15-20 seconds for the cloth to open up your pores. Enjoy the heavenly smells emanating from your cleansing oil. Repeat blotting of face with hot cloth.

Cleansing oil is gentle and versatile enough to use both at night and in the morning. For best results, follow up with a light moisturizer like our Spanish Sage Face Mist to tone and refresh the skin.

What to Expect

While cleansing oils are incredibly effective, be patient - it’s not likely that you’ll see dramatic results overnight. Cleansing oils reach deep into your skin, where other cleansers may not have been able to reach, which may result in bringing hidden impurities to the surface before fully clearing them up. Stick with your routine - we recommend using the oil for at least ten days to start seeing changes in your skin.

Once you do begin to see results, you’ll wonder why you didn’t start using cleansing oils earlier. A quick search of cleansing oil reviews (for example, Burt’s Bees Coconut Cleansing Oil) reveals that these products really do work - both men and women are raving about how their skin is smoother, clearer, and more moisturized since using cleansing oils, while the oil itself is praised for its smells, textures, and effectiveness.

Those who have made the switch to cleansing oil swear by it - and now that you’re in the know, we bet you’ll never look back at the harsh chemical facial cleansers you’ve been using all these years. We’re proud to offer you our Spanish Sage Cleansing Oil, a facial cleanser that is better for both you and the environment. Made from all-natural oils and botanicals and inspired by adventures, we here at Newton + Co believe in the power of simple, time-tested ingredients to invigorate and inspire you on all your journeys.

Why You Need a Cleansing Oil — Spanish Sage Cleansing Oil

Why You Need a Cleansing Oil — Spanish Sage Cleansing Oil

Cleansing oils have become so popular recently that they are on track to replace the traditional facial cleansers within your skincare regimen. While it may seem counter-intuitive to use oil to remove dirt and, well, oil from your skin, dermatologists are praising cleansing oils as being more effective, more moisturizing, and better for your skin than the variety of harsh and chemical-based products widely available.

What is this witchcraft? Oil just makes things oily!

This isn’t some crazy scheme - it’s actually based on science. The expression “like dissolves like,” commonly used in chemistry, explains how solvents (like oil and water) interact with each other. This principle explains that solvents (another term for liquids) can dissolve other solvents only if they are similar. For example, this is why oil and water don’t mix, but two different oils do. Cleansing oils work by removing dirt and sebum from your pores, while simultaneously replacing the dirty oil with the beneficial oils and botanicals found in your cleansing oil.

Who can use it?

The great news about cleansing oil is that it works on virtually all kinds of skin. Gone are the days of standing in the face wash aisle for an hour, tearing your hair out over whether you need a cleanser for oily, dry, acne, combination, or mystery skin. Cleansing oil is gentle enough for sensitive skin, and its science-based approach means it will cleanse oily, dry, and acne-prone skin equally well. Cleansing oils are also more moisturizing than traditional cleansers, and often contain very few or no surfactants. Surfactants are included in body products as detergents and foaming agents, but they can be harsh on your skin or even produce an allergic reaction. Many people who make the switch to cleansing oils find they need to use a facial moisturizer much less or not at all.

That having been said, it is important to choose the right cleansing oil. Some oils work better than others (for example, experts recommend against using canola or corn oil from your kitchen) and different varieties will have a wide array of botanical ingredients for you to choose from, depending on what you need from a cleanser.

Choosing a cleansing oil

There are still many choices of cleansing oils for dry, oily, acne-prone, and sensitive skin, as well as a combination thereof. In fact, cleansing oils often contain a more customized and effective array of options than chemical-based cleansers. For dry skin, look for products that contain heavier oils like avocado, sunflower, or jojoba. For oily skin, stick to ingredients that are on the lighter side, such as grapeseed, argan, and coconut. For acne-prone and sensitive skin, opt for cleansers that contain both light and calming ingredients for cleansing and soothing, such as argan, lavender, rosemary, and grapeseed. As with any new skin product, be sure to perform an allergy test before use by applying your cleansing oil to a small patch of skin.

At Newton + Co, we’ve carefully formulated our signature Spanish Sage Cleansing Oil to effectively cleanse and moisturize all skin types. With a castor oil base and other all-natural oils like black cumin seed, chia seed, camellia, borage, sage, myrrh, and lavender, our Spanish Sage Cleansing Oil is packed with antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial properties. Black cumin seed oil in particular is a powerful oil - naturally antibacterial, it not only aids in fighting acne, psoriasis, and eczema, it’s also been proven to soften, strengthen, and firm skin. Cleopatra was reported to use black cumin seed oil to maintain her beautiful hair, skin and nails.

All-natural, rooted in history, and modernized by science - it’s no secret why cleansing oils have become the new go-to over traditional facial cleansers. We highly recommend jumping on the bandwagon and seeing what all the fuss is about, and we’re sure you’ll fall in love with cleansing oils after seeing the clear effects.
